Postcards from the Fields: Tileibani Farmers Send Wishes to Minister Suryabanshi Suraj

Farmers of Tielibani Block in Deogarh district have extended their heartfelt blessings and gratitude in postcard to Hon’ble Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj for his encouragement and support towards the initiative “Ama Mati Ama Parichaaya”, launched by Shyamala Subarna Agro, The Odisha based Agri Start up. The initiative focuses on maintaining and restoring soil health through organic agricultural practices. On December 5, World Soil Day, Minister Suryabanshi Suraj inaugurated the Soil Health Awareness Programme “Ama Mati Ama Parichaaya”. Farmers marked the occasion by sending heartfelt postcards expressing their wishes and aspirations.
The farmers expressed that soil is not merely a production resource but their identity and lifeline. Over the years, declining soil fertility due to excessive chemical inputs had become a matter of concern in the region. Through the “Ama Mati Ama Parichaaya” initiative, awareness has been created among farmers about the importance of soil testing, organic inputs, composting, bio-fertilizers, and sustainable farming methods. Farmers emphasized that healthy soil is the backbone of agricultural productivity, nutritional security, and environmental sustainability. They highlighted the need to promote soil testing, organic manure, natural farming, and balanced nutrient management to restore soil fertility and ensure long-term farm prosperity. Through their postcards, farmers called for collective efforts to protect soil resources for future generations and strengthen climate-resilient agriculture.
According to champion women farmer Mrs Tilottama Adabar said ,the initiative has brought renewed confidence among cultivators of Tielibani Block. Many farmers have started adopting organic and natural farming techniques, leading to improved soil structure, better moisture retention, and reduced cultivation costs. The movement has also strengthened the collective spirit of farming communities towards sustainable agriculture.
The “Ama Mati Ama Parichaaya” initiative by Shyamala Subarna Agro is gradually emerging as a grassroots movement aimed at reconnecting farmers with their soil, promoting organic agriculture, and ensuring long-term environmental sustainability in Deogarh district, said by Mr D Shuvam – Founder , Shyamala Subarna Agro.
Farmers further appreciated the vision of Hon’ble Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan under NEP 2020 through the “School Mein Kheti” initiative by Shyamala Subarna Agro team. They noted that introducing agriculture, nutrition gardens, and hands-on cultivation in schools can inspire young minds to understand farming, soil stewardship, and environmental responsibility. Farmers expressed hope that connecting classrooms with cultivation will nurture a future generation that values agriculture and contributes to sustainable rural development.
