Crop Diversification Under SPPIF Scheme

The SPPIF can refer to the Special Programme for Promotion of Integrated Farming (SPPIF), a local initiative to boost the livelihoods of tribal farmers through integrated farming systems. It can also refer to the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), an acronym that appears in some contexts, though it’s more commonly known as AIF. Under the SPPIF scheme in Fursund, Nuapada, 47 farmers successfully implemented groundnut-arhar intercropping on 46.6 Ha. A recent crop cutting experiment projects a promising yield of 16.28 q/Ha.

The SPPIF program is promoted to enhance resource management and increase farmer income through activities like promoting integrated farming, processing, and value addition. Crop diversification programme encourages farmers to cultivate variety of crops reducing dependence on single crops, reduces vulnerability to climate-related challenges and market fluctuations and helps in maintaining soil health, reduction of pests and improving productivity.
