Retail inflation for farm workers and rural labourers increased to 6.36 per cent and 6.39 percent, respectively, in September from 5.96 percent and 6.08 percent in August this year.The year-on-year inflation rates based on CPI-AL and CPI-RL for the month of September 2024 were recorded at 6.36 percent and 6.39 percent, compared to 6.70 percent and 6.55 percent in September 2023.
Prices of rice, pulses, turmeric whole, onion, sugar, gur, chilly dry, garlic, and mixed spices drove retail inflation for farm and rural labourers. The rise/fall in the index varies from state to state. In the case of agricultural labourers, it recorded an increase of 3 to 12 points in 15 states and a decrease of 2 to 12 points in four states while it remained stationary for one state.
