Odisha’s economy is dominated by agriculture. The rural population of our state is completely dependent on agriculture and it’s allied sectors. The fishery sector of our state is also quite strong and economically progressive. But still it needs to be more technologically advanced with more involvement of work force.
Today on the eve of World Fishery Day a webinar titled ” Odisha’s Fisheries Resources: My Dream” was arranged by the combined efforts of Sankalp Tv, OCF and Shyamala Subarna. It was graced by the presence of Honorable Minister of Higher Education Agriculture, Fishery and Animal Husbandry Dr Arun Sahoo, who was the Chief Guest. He in his talk lead stress on the importance possessed by fish farming to motivate the youth of our state in being an entrepreneur and being self sufficient. He threw light on the ample resources in our state that can serve in increasing the fishery production and make our state self sufficient in aquaculture. The inaugural speech was given by Mr Ashok Das, Director of Sankalp Tv and the moderators were Mr D Shuvam, Editor Shyamala Subarna and Mr Bigyan Mihir Rout. The Students of College of Fisheries, OUAT, Agropolytechnic College, OUAT and Centurion University were the participants.
