Two New Varieties Of Paddy By TNAU

The recognized Tamil Nadu Agriculture University has recently developed a new variety of paddy which can farmer easily grow in their land. The main advantage of this crop is it is fully drought resistant and can be cultivated in any type of soil. TRY 5, a mutant of TRY 2, was among the new paddy types, he added, since it was ideal for saline soil conditions and could be harvested 10-15 days quicker than conventional crops cultivated in comparable conditions.

The other new paddy varities included TKM 15, which was suited for direct sowing in semi dry conditions during northeast monsoon in northern and southern regions of the state.
