No proposal to hike benefit amount under PM-KISAAN

PM-KISAN is one of the largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes of the world. The benefit is provided to supplement financial needs of land-holding farmers. The government has disbursed over Rs 3.46 lakh crore in 18 instalments. The government has no proposal at present to increase the annual benefit amount of Rs 6,000 under the PM-KISAN scheme. As per operational guidelines of the scheme, it is the responsibility of states/UTs to identify and verify eligible beneficiaries under the scheme. A farmer-centric digital infrastructure has ensured the benefits of the scheme reach all the farmers across the country without any involvement of the middlemen. The scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of all landholding farmers' families by procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income as well as for domestic needs. The direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme provides financial assistance to eligible landholding farmers, irrespective of their landholding size.
