Chana Dal Prices Up 10% Ahead Of Festive Season

According to industry executives, chana dal prices have risen by up to 10% in the last month due to increased demand for the country’s most popular pulse ahead of the festive season. Chana dal prices have risen despite large-scale imports of yellow peas because the replacement of chana with yellow peas is significantly lower than expected. Prices of tur dal have fallen about 5% in the past month, offering consumers some relief.

According to the consumer affairs ministry, the modal retail prices of tur, whose prices rose highest 26.86% in June on year, has declined to Rs 160/kg on Saturday, a decline of 5.8% on month. Retail prices of masoor have declined by 10% to Rs 90/kg on Saturday compared to a month ago. The wholesale prices of key pulses have declined by 8% in the last few weeks.
