2024 Budget : Transforming India’s Agriculture For Climate Resilience And Food Security
The budget should pave the way of establishing climate-resilient clusters in vulnerable and risk-prone blocks, serving as knowledge centres. Improving efficiency in water use for agriculture is critical amid the looming water crisis. Climate change has profound implications for India, particularly affecting its economically vulnerable rural population, largely dependent on climate-sensitive agricultural livelihoods.
The presentation underscored the important role of agricultural cooperation between the world’s two largest democracies, the United State and India. Both nations face significant challenges in meeting the food demands of their populations amid global population growth, changing dietary pattern and environmental uncertainties.
