As the planet gets hotter, our frozen world is shrinking, making the water cycle more unpredictable. This World Water Day, we must work together to put glacier preservation at the core of our plans to tackle climate change and the global water crisis. For billions of people, meltwater flows are changing, causing floods, droughts, landslides and sea level rise, and damaging ecosystems. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis.
In the days leading up to March 22, individuals, communities, and organisations work to promote awareness about the importance of water and the urgent need for equitable access to it. Various events, educational campaigns, and social media initiatives help spread the message. World Water Day is celebrated to encourage awareness of water scarcity and safe drinking water.
