The World Food Day is being observed every year on October 16 in more than 150 countries, including India, raising awareness of the issues behind poverty and hunger, serving as a global reminder of the critical issues surrounding food security, nutrition, and global hunger. The United Nations chose October 16 because the Food and Agriculture Organisation was founded on the same day in 1946.
Food is important for life. To be healthy and active, we should certainly have enough food. The objective of World Food Day is to eradicate hunger, ensure food security, boost agricultural productivity and support a sustainable food system. The aim of the day is to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all.
