Odisha’s Agriculture Story Is One of Resilience And Growth

Odisha’s agricultural sector has indeed shown remarkable resilience and growth in recent years, with the 2024–25 and projected 2025–26 figures highlighting its transformation. According to the Odisha Economic Survey 2025-26, the agriculture and allied sector registered a growth rate of 5.3% in 2025-26, which is significantly higher than the national growth rate of ~3.1%. The state achieved a record foodgrain production of over 150.5 lakh metric tonnes (MT) in 2024–25.
The government has introduced major initiatives under Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, including the Samrudha Krushak Yojana, CM-Kisan Odisha, and Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana (MKY) to empower farmers and boost dairy production. The state’s,focus on climate-resilient agriculture, crop diversification, and improved irrigation, coupled with high MSP procurement, is driving this robust agricultural performance.
