Odisha Provides Subsidies For Farmers To Use Energy-Efficient Pump Sets And Solar Pumps

The Government of Odisha provides subsidies to farmers for both energy-efficient pump sets and solar pumps through various state and central schemes. These programs aim to reduce agricultural costs, improve irrigation, and promote sustainable farming practices. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan scheme provides subsidies for the installation of standalone, off-grid solar-powered agricultural pumps, primarily for farmers who are not connected to the grid.

In Odisha, the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana scheme is the primary source for rooftop solar subsidies, offering a maximum of Rs. 78,000 for systems up to 3 kW, with additional state-specific incentives available, such as a Rs. 20,000 per kW subsidy approved in January 2025, to boost the scheme’s adoption in the residential sector. Soura Jalanidhi Scheme launched by the state government, this scheme offers a high subsidy for solar pumps, particularly for small and marginal farmers with a valid farmer ID.
