National Nutrition Week 2024, taking place from September 1st to September 7th, emphasizes the need for balanced diets to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The National Nutrition Week sets the goal for sustainable development by the United Nations, emphasising promoting diets that fulfil the nutritional needs of individuals at various stages of life. A healthy diet comprises ingesting more or less the exact amounts of calories after understanding the average consumption of calories an individual consumes.
Nutrition is a critical part of health and development. Better nutrition is related to improved infant, child and maternal health, stronger immune systems, safer pregnancy and childbirth, lower risk of non-communicable diseases and longevity. The six essential nutrients are vitamins, minerals, protein, fats, water, and carbohydrates. People need to consume these nutrients from dietary sources for proper body function.
