Farmers Field School Was Conducted Under FAO GEF 7 FOLUR IP Project

Farmer Field School (FFS) is an agricultural school of farmer which is conducted by the farmers on their own fields. This is research based learning through non formal education. FFS provide opportunities for learning by doing. The chili plays a vital role among the spices that enhance the flavor of our daily meals. It is consumed in various forms—green chilies, dried chilies, chili powder, and chili flakes creating a consistently high demand.

Farmers Field School on chilli cultivation was conducted at Amurlapadar Village, Golamunda Block, Kalahandi under the FAO GEF 7 FOLUR IP Project. During the session, farmers received training on optimal harvesting time, appropriate methods, and key maturity indicators. A demonstration plot measuring 25m² yielded 16 kg of chilli, projecting an estimated productivity of 3 tonnes per acre. The program concluded with deliberations on market linkages, pricing strategies, grading standards, and storage practices.
