Potato Day will be celebrated every year on May 30. The day supports and promotes small-scale and family farming production of the potato, particularly by rural farmers, including women farmers. The potato has its origins in the Andes region of South America. It represents one of that region’s most important food contributions to the world. Today, potatoes rank among the top five staple food crops consumed globally, vital in ensuring food security.
